Frith PR Wins Magellan Award for SyncTV Launch

 

San Francisco, December 17, 2007 – Frith PR has been honored with the Silver Award at this year’s LACP Magellan Awards for the consumer launch of SyncTV.  The launch campaign was judged on six criteria and in every category, Frith PR’s campaign was considered ‘superb’.

 

“This year’s entry, ‘Launch of SyncTV’, proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition,” said Christine Kennedy, LACP Managing Director. “More than 450 entries were received for the 2007 Magellan Awards, comprising communications campaigns from eight countries.”

 

Frith PR was commissioned to raise awareness of SyncTV’s launch of an unlimited TV download service.  The service, still in private beta, provides home-theater quality TV shows on an unlimited download basis. In preparation for the launch, Frith PR took a Web 2.0 approach. Frith PR’s SyncTV team highlighted the most influential blogs of all of its competitors, created both traditional and social media press releases, recorded a podcast interview with SyncTV and advised the creation of a corporate blog and a YouTube demo video.

 

Seven days after SyncTV’s launch, the phrase 'SyncTV' had 1.2 million entries in Google.  90% of the top 30 blogs highlighted wrote about the launch.  In the first two days after the launch, Frith’s SyncTV team received over 40 media and blogger requests to join the beta testing program, with many thousands more consumers applying to join the beta through the website.

 

One award judge commented on the launch: “It’s evident that this campaign was thoughtfully planned with the target audience and their prospective interests at heart.  Great job tailoring such a meaningful and enjoyable campaign to them.”
